About the Role
BEC Arabia is looking for a highly motivated QS - Architectural Engineer to join our Quantity Surveying Department in Riyadh. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accurate estimation, cost control, and financial management of our architectural projects, many of which are part of Saudi Vision 2030’s transformative initiatives. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with architects, project managers, and contractors to deliver cost-effective solutions for high-profile developments, including commercial buildings, residential mega-projects, and government infrastructure.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. You will also play a critical role in value engineering, risk assessment, and cost optimization to ensure project profitability. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities (BOQ) for architectural projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
- Conduct cost analysis and feasibility studies to support decision-making during the design and construction phases.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure cost-effective solutions and adherence to project budgets.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, identifying and addressing any cost variances or risks.
- Review and validate contractor and supplier quotations, ensuring compliance with project requirements and market rates.
- Provide value engineering recommendations to optimize costs without compromising quality or design intent.
- Prepare and manage tender documents, including cost breakdowns, for procurement processes.
- Conduct site visits to verify progress and ensure alignment with the approved budget and schedule.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), Saudi Labor Law, and other relevant regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all cost-related documentation and reports.
- Support the resolution of contractual disputes related to cost and payment issues.
- Liaise with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) for professional registration and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost estimation, or related roles within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software such as CostX, Primavera P6, or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and local construction regulations.
- Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and other standard forms of construction contracts.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Certification in RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or CIQS (Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors).
- Experience working on Saudi Vision 2030 giga-projects or similar large-scale developments.
- Knowledge of sustainability standards such as LEED, Mostadam, or Estidama.
- Advanced proficiency in BIM tools like Revit for cost estimation and project coordination.
Working Conditions
- Based in Riyadh, with occasional travel to project sites within Saudi Arabia.
- Primarily office-based, with regular site visits requiring adherence to safety protocols and PPE usage.
- Exposure to construction site environments, including outdoor work in varying climate conditions.
- Standard working hours, with flexibility required to meet project deadlines.
