About the Role
BEC Arabia, a leading construction and engineering firm, is looking for a highly motivated Estimation Engineer to join our Estimation Department in Cairo, Egypt. In this role, you will play a critical part in the pre-construction phase of our projects, ensuring accurate and competitive cost estimates that align with project requirements and client expectations. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, design engineers, and procurement specialists, to develop comprehensive bids for a diverse portfolio of projects spanning commercial buildings, industrial facilities, and infrastructure development.
As part of the Estimation Department, you will analyze project specifications, assess material and labor costs, and prepare detailed cost breakdowns. Your work will directly impact BEC Arabia's ability to secure contracts and deliver value-driven solutions to our clients. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overheads.
- Analyze project specifications and drawings to identify cost drivers and potential risks.
- Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure alignment between project plans and cost estimates.
- Develop and maintain a database of unit costs, vendor pricing, and historical project data.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, ensuring compliance with project requirements and budget constraints.
- Prepare tender documents and proposals, including bill of quantities (BOQ) and cost breakdowns.
- Conduct value engineering analyses to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and client presentations to address queries and provide clarifications.
- Ensure compliance with the Egyptian Building Code and other relevant regulations.
- Support post-tender activities, including contract negotiations and handover to project execution teams.
- Maintain accurate records of all estimation activities and documentation for future reference.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation within the construction or engineering industry.
- Proficiency in estimation software such as Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and MS Excel.
- Strong knowledge of Egyptian Building Code and local construction practices.
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts and tendering processes.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Registration with the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Certification in Cost Estimation or Project Management (e.g., CCP, PMP).
- Experience with mega-projects or large-scale infrastructure developments.
- Knowledge of green building standards such as LEED or Mostadam.
- Proficiency in BIM tools like Revit or Navisworks.
