About the Role

BEC Arabia is seeking a talented and detail-oriented QS - Civil Engineer to join our QA & QC Department in Riyadh. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, cost efficiency, and compliance of our construction projects, which include some of the Kingdom’s most ambitious infrastructure and development initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, site engineers, and procurement specialists, to ensure accurate cost estimation, effective resource allocation, and adherence to quality standards. You will be involved in every phase of the project lifecycle, from initial planning and budgeting to final delivery, ensuring that all activities meet regulatory requirements and client expectations. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze cost estimates for civil engineering projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project budgets.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs from engineering drawings and specifications to determine material and labor requirements.
  • Monitor and control project costs, providing regular updates and reports to project stakeholders.
  • Evaluate contractor and supplier bids, ensuring compliance with technical and financial requirements.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project budgets, including contingency planning and risk assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC) and other relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Perform site inspections to verify quantities and ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Prepare and review payment applications, including interim and final valuations.
  • Support contract administration, including claims management and dispute resolution.
  • Utilize advanced software tools, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and Primavera P6, for cost estimation and project scheduling.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all cost-related activities for audit and reporting purposes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying or cost engineering within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Primavera P6, and other relevant software tools.
  • Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and other applicable regulations.
  • Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
  • Demonstrated experience in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting for large-scale construction projects.
  • Familiarity with GOSI and other compliance requirements in Saudi Arabia.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent.
  • Experience working on Saudi Vision 2030 giga-projects or similar large-scale initiatives.
  • Knowledge of green building standards such as LEED or Mostadam.
  • Advanced expertise in BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools and methodologies.

Working Conditions

  • This role is office-based in Riyadh with regular visits to construction sites.
  • Frequent collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory during site visits.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, including high temperatures, during site inspections.
  • Standard working hours with occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
