About the Role

BEC Arabia is seeking a highly skilled PMV - Mechanical Engineer to join our Logistics Department in Khobar. This role is critical to ensuring the operational readiness and efficiency of our Plant, Machinery, and Vehicles (PMV) fleet, which supports some of the most ambitious infrastructure and construction projects in Saudi Arabia. As part of a dynamic and fast-paced team, you will oversee the maintenance, repair, and optimization of heavy equipment and vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

In this position, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, site engineers, and procurement specialists, to deliver seamless logistical support. Your day-to-day activities will include diagnosing mechanical issues, implementing preventive maintenance schedules, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, machinery, and vehicles to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to extend the lifecycle of equipment and reduce operational costs.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in construction equipment and vehicles, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, including ISO 45001 and ISO 9001, across all PMV operations.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to source high-quality spare parts and consumables, ensuring cost-effectiveness and reliability.
  • Monitor equipment performance metrics and generate detailed reports to inform decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
  • Train and mentor technical staff on best practices for equipment maintenance and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure the availability of machinery and vehicles as per project timelines.
  • Inspect and certify equipment readiness in compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC) and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead initiatives to adopt advanced diagnostic tools and technologies to enhance maintenance practices.
  • Support the implementation of sustainability practices, including energy-efficient equipment utilization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in PMV maintenance within the construction or heavy equipment industry.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and software for heavy machinery (e.g., Caterpillar ET, Cummins Insite, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
  • In-depth understanding of the Saudi Building Code (SBC) and other relevant regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Certification in NEBOSH or equivalent safety standards.
  • Experience with fleet management software such as Fleetio or AssetWorks.
  • Prior experience working on Saudi Vision 2030 mega-projects.
  • Knowledge of green building standards such as Mostadam or LEED.

Working Conditions

  • Based in Khobar, with occasional travel to project sites across Saudi Arabia.
  • Primarily office-based with frequent visits to construction sites and equipment yards.
  • Exposure to outdoor environments, including high temperatures and dusty conditions.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory during site visits.
  • Standard working hours with occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
