About the Role
BEC Arabia is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Inspector to join our Health & Safety Department in Riyadh. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our construction and infrastructure projects meet the highest safety standards, aligning with both regulatory requirements and BEC Arabia's commitment to operational excellence. As part of a dynamic team, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to implement and monitor safety protocols across a variety of high-profile projects, including government mega-projects and private developments.
In this role, you will conduct regular site inspections, identify potential hazards, and ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), OSHA, and ISO 45001 standards. You will also play an active role in training and educating site personnel on safety practices, fostering a culture of safety across all levels of the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, including OSHA, ISO 45001, and the Saudi Building Code (SBC).
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols across all project sites, ensuring adherence to BEC Arabia’s safety policies and procedures.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for site personnel, including toolbox talks and specialized training sessions.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Labor Law and General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) requirements related to workplace safety.
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, including inspection reports, training logs, and incident reports.
- Participate in risk assessments and hazard identification processes to proactively address potential safety issues.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during safety inspections and audits.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness by engaging with employees at all levels and encouraging proactive safety practices.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes to continuously improve safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety roles within the construction or engineering industry.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH International General Certificate, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
- Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and other relevant safety regulations.
- Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
- Proficiency in safety management software and tools.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certifications such as NEBOSH Diploma, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Lead Auditor for ISO 45001.
- Experience working on mega-projects or government-funded infrastructure initiatives.
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices in construction.
- Proficiency in Arabic.
- Familiarity with Primavera P6 or similar project management tools.
Working Conditions
- Primarily based on construction sites in Riyadh, with occasional office work.
- Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, including high temperatures and dusty environments.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety boots, and high-visibility clothing, is mandatory.
- Standard working hours with occasional extended shifts to meet project deadlines.
- Limited regional travel may be required for multi-site inspections.
