About the Role
BEC Arabia is seeking a highly skilled Technical Structural Engineer to join our Technical Department in Riyadh. As a key contributor to our engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and analyzing structural systems for some of the most ambitious construction and infrastructure projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. From commercial skyscrapers to government mega-projects, your work will directly impact the success of initiatives aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, project managers, and construction professionals, to ensure the structural integrity, safety, and sustainability of our projects. You will be responsible for applying advanced engineering principles, utilizing cutting-edge software tools, and adhering to local and international building codes. Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze structural systems for buildings, bridges, and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with the Saudi Building Code (SBC) and international standards.
- Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications using advanced software tools such as ETABS, SAP2000, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, and construction teams to integrate structural designs into overall project plans.
- Conduct site inspections and assessments to verify structural integrity and adherence to design specifications.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and contractor proposals for structural components.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards such as ISO 45001 and NEBOSH guidelines during the design and construction phases.
- Coordinate with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) to maintain professional registration and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Perform structural retrofitting and rehabilitation designs for existing structures as required.
- Develop and implement quality assurance procedures to maintain high standards in structural engineering deliverables.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in structural engineering to enhance project outcomes.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and interns within the department.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in structural engineering, with a focus on large-scale construction and infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, including ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and international standards such as ACI and Eurocode.
- Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
- Familiarity with GOSI and other regulatory requirements in Saudi Arabia.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Certification in LEED, Mostadam, or other green building standards.
- Experience with BIM tools such as Revit or Tekla Structures.
- Previous involvement in Saudi Vision 2030 mega-projects.
- Expertise in seismic design and advanced structural modeling techniques.
Working Conditions
- This position is office-based in Riyadh, with occasional site visits to construction locations.
- Standard working hours with potential for extended hours during critical project phases.
- Travel within Saudi Arabia may be required to support regional projects.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn during site visits.
- Work environment includes exposure to construction site conditions and the local climate.
