About the Role
BEC Arabia is seeking a Principal Material Coordinator to join our Technical Department in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is critical to ensuring the seamless flow of materials across our large-scale construction and infrastructure projects, which include commercial buildings, residential mega-projects, and government giga-projects. As part of our Technical team, you will play a key role in optimizing material planning, procurement, and logistics to meet project timelines and budgets.
You will work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and site supervisors to ensure material availability aligns with project schedules. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to some of Saudi Arabia's most transformative projects under the Saudi Vision 2030 framework. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end material coordination process, including planning, procurement, and delivery, to ensure alignment with project schedules.
- Develop and maintain material tracking systems to monitor inventory levels, usage, and procurement timelines.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to source materials from approved vendors, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor material delivery schedules and resolve any delays or discrepancies to minimize project disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), ARAMCO standards, and other relevant regulatory requirements for all materials.
- Collaborate with project managers and site teams to forecast material needs and adjust plans as project scopes evolve.
- Prepare detailed reports on material usage, costs, and inventory levels for senior management review.
- Implement best practices in material handling, storage, and logistics to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Liaise with international suppliers to manage import/export logistics, customs clearance, and documentation.
- Support sustainability initiatives by sourcing eco-friendly materials and adhering to green building standards such as Mostadam and LEED.
- Train and mentor junior material coordinators to build a high-performing team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in material coordination or supply chain management within the construction or engineering industry.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and material tracking software.
- Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC) and ARAMCO standards.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE).
- Demonstrated expertise in procurement processes, logistics, and inventory management.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
- Experience working on Saudi Vision 2030 giga-projects.
- Knowledge of green building standards such as LEED or Mostadam.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 for project scheduling and material planning.
Working Conditions
- Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with occasional travel to project sites across the Kingdom.
- Primarily office-based with regular visits to construction sites.
- Exposure to construction site conditions, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Standard working hours with occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.
