About the Role

BEC Arabia is looking for an experienced QS Mechanical - Team Leader to join our Quality & Safety department in Cairo. This role is critical in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety across our mechanical systems in large-scale infrastructure and construction projects. As a key member of the team, you will lead efforts to monitor, evaluate, and improve mechanical quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with Egyptian regulations and international standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 45001.

In this position, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, engineers, and site supervisors, to implement and maintain robust quality control measures. You will also play a pivotal role in mentoring junior staff, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring that all mechanical systems meet project specifications and client expectations. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of quality and safety plans for mechanical systems in compliance with Egyptian regulations and international standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate mechanical work on-site to ensure adherence to project specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to address quality and safety concerns effectively.
  • Develop and maintain detailed quality assurance documentation, including inspection reports, test plans, and non-conformance reports.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and other relevant standards across all mechanical quality processes.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Train and mentor junior quality and safety staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to review and approve mechanical materials and equipment for quality compliance.
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends and implement preventive measures to mitigate recurring issues.
  • Report on quality and safety performance to senior management, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Support the handover process by ensuring all mechanical systems meet client and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical quality assurance and safety within the construction or engineering industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Egyptian Building Code and Egyptian Labor Law.
  • Familiarity with international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
  • Proficiency in quality management tools and software, including AutoCAD, Primavera P6, and MS Office Suite.
  • Registration with the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent safety standards.
  • Experience with green building standards such as LEED or Mostadam.
  • Previous experience working on mega-projects or government infrastructure initiatives.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems in industrial facilities or smart cities.

Working Conditions

  • Based in Cairo, with occasional travel to project sites within Egypt.
  • Primarily office-based, with regular visits to construction sites for inspections and audits.
  • Exposure to construction site environments, requiring adherence to PPE and safety protocols.
  • Standard working hours with occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.
